Day 14

Righteous

I never even knew what righteous meant, and now I am called righteous! After learning about how mighty and honorable Jesus is, I understand it better. Jesus freely gave me His righteousness, and that means I am also mighty and honorable. I know I didn’t earn my righteousness, but that’s why the exchange God made was so awesome. I haven’t done anything righteous in my whole life, but God begs to differ.

LISTEN

You serve your neighbors, you love your parents, you accept my teaching; all these things are righteous acts. You live in such a way that you need me, and when I share myself, I share my righteousness. I have not called you righteous on accident. I call you righteous because you are mine, and anything that is mine is worthy of my righteousness. Don’t work for righteousness, and don’t ever think it’s earned. My righteousness is a precious gift to you, my child. Please remember to humbly receive it as a gift.

READ

Romans 5:19-21 ESV: “For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 6:20 ESV: “For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.”

2 Timothy 3:16 ESV: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

REFLECT

Reflect on the meaning of righteous.

Do you know the cost of righteousness?

Can you afford it?

How can you remember to humbly accept Christ’s righteousness?

Who are you in Jesus? Righteous
