Day 5

Free

I walked in shame for far too long. I realize now, I am free from the sin, the shame, the strongholds that I was chained to [before Jesus]. That is good news! He has filled me with hope for restoration. I understand, now, that He wants me to walk confidently in the freedom that He bought for me. Truly, if I don’t walk in freedom then he bought it for nothing! I want to honor the freedom that I have in Christ, and I want to rejoice in the fact that there is no penalty for the sin I used to be chained to. I am not chained to shame, but bonded to the beautiful grace of righteousness in God!

LISTEN

Captivity is no longer an option, my child. You were enslaved and chained to sin, but my power broke the chains. My power defeated death, and it bought you the most beautiful place in my heart! I will never give away that place, because it was bought for you with a costly price; the price of my precious Son’s life. Forever, you have the freedom to delight in my love, and His life. The sacrifice of the cross that I gave on your behalf was once, and it was for all. Seek to understand what I mean when I say, set the mind on the Spirit, which is life and peace!

READ

Romans 6:18 ESV: “having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.”

Romans 8:1-8 ESV: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.  For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

Romans 6:23 ESV: “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

REFLECT

Reflect on the definition of freedom.

Freedom; the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

Do you believe living in the freedom you have in Christ is doing what you want to do?

Who are you in Jesus? Free
